The Humane Society of Fremont County is an independent, non-profit agency. Our shelter is an open-admission animal shelter that provides animal-services to Fremont County and Custer County, CO, the cities of Canon City and Florence, and the towns of Williamsburg, Rockvale and Coal Creek, CO. We are not a division of the Fremont County government or the city of Cañon City, nor are we operated by or receive a penny in funding from the Humane Society of the United States. We are an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) corporation and we are governed by a board of directors.
The Humane Society of Charles County started in 1978 with the single objective to rescue dogs and cats hit by cars. Scruffy Tails Humane Society, formerly Humane Society of Polk County in Crookston, MN was founded as a 501c(3) in January 1982 by passionate animal advocates, with the desire to help the animals in their community. Over the past 40 years this shelter has worked hard to help animals that have come into our care by reuniting lost pets with their owners and finding a forever home for pets deserving of a loving environment and a safe place to call home. We could not have done this without the dedication of our staff, volunteers and donors.
The Humane Society of Central Oregon (HSCO) has been serving the community since 1961, and endeavors to strengthen the human-animal bond by advocating and compassionately caring for animals. Grand Rivers Humane Society (GRHS) focuses on finding loving homes for Grand Valley homeless local cats and dogs since 2005. We are the only Grand Junction humane society that focuses solely on LOCAL homeless pets. There is a national overpopulation crisis affecting Mesa County Animal Services and GRHS has stepped in to help navigate and alleviate this crisis. Donations go towards life-saving surgeries for injured pets, veterinary evaluations for sick pets, spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and foster supplies.
