Big Dawgs Rescue was founded in May 2009 by Joanne Rivero, and is run entirely by volunteers. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless and abandoned pets by placing them into loving forever homes. Although they still focus on large breed dogs, they have expanded their efforts to include pets of all shapes and sizes. Once in their rescue, animals live in real homes with foster families rather than in cages, and are shown the love and attention many of them have never known. The sick are made healthy, and those with behavioral issues stemming from neglect or abuse are shown compassion and understanding as they learn to trust again. They are against breed discrimination, and they believe it is their mission to educate the public about how proper pet ownership can make any breed of dog into a loving family member.
The Spirit of Alexandria Foundation was created to carry on the legacy of Alexandria Bennett, a little girl whose passion for nature and generosity was evident to everyone around her. Through this foundation, it is her family and friends mission to help children experience nature and all its wonderment. The Spirit of Alexandria Foundation will work in cooperation with partners in the places that she loved, both close to home and across the country.
Our primary function of the sanctuary is to house and care for birds who have been surrendered by owners or other facilities for various reasons. Some have been abused, abandoned, under-nourished or – most recently with the declining economy – many people need to place their birds in sanctuary. In addition to caring for over 500 birds (as of June 2014), we hope to expand our program to include educational opportunities for children of all ages, activities and community service programs for interest groups such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4H Clubs and environmental organizations. We have been providing this care for over 10 years. We are a federal 501(3)c not-for-profit organization #26-3406204 and a Washington State registered charities #32440.
Our mission at Fine Feathered Friends Foundation, a California 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation, is to provide a safe place for pet birds that are in need of a new home for various reasons - relocation, the passing of a family member, etc. - and we do our best to search for the best possible home for all of these precious creatures. We also take in pet birds that have been found and do all we can to reunite them with their previous family. During their time here at our rescue, the birds are cared for with love and compassion. Some arrive needing veterinary care and others are in need of a complete diet change. Every bird is unique and special and we love them all, big and small! We are “For The Birds!” As part of our mission, we offer advice on feeding, care, and enrichment for pet birds and are available by phone, text, or email to answer any inquiries. We are also able to provide educational programs for schools, daycare facilities, as well as youth groups such as 4-H, Girl Scouts, etc.
