Young people are an integral part of the dairy industry. They need to be recognized, inspired, and challenged to make the decisions that will affect their future. Each new generation inherits a responsibility for its own culture, history and heritage. The Trustees of the Fund are committed to the development of programs and events that educate, encourage and assist the young people who are the future of our industry.

Created in 1999, the John Abbott College Foundation actively promotes philanthropy and encourages investment in our most valuable resource - our students. In partnership with an influential network of donors and our community of alumni, students and friends of the College, we are committed to helping young men and women bridge the gap between economic hardship and the realization of their academic dreams.Funds raised and managed by the Foundation allow us to create longer-term bursaries for students in need of financial assistance and scholarships that empower them to achieve academic excellence. It is this collaborative fusion of philanthropy, community, accessibility, technological advancement and social responsibility that forms the core of the Foundation. Canada's oldest boarding and day school for young women, The Bishop Strachan School was founded in 1867 and named to honour Toronto's first Anglican Bishop. The Bishop Strachan School in Toronto, Ontario is a university prepatory school in the Anglican tradition enrolling girls in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12.

The Grants Program is the legacy of the Foundation. Each year over $30,000 is given to teachers to run projects not supported by the operational funds of schools. We also have many programs designed to ensure all students can maximize their learning and their success rate. We provide for hungry kids, we purchase snowsuits and boots for those in need and help with annual Christmas baskets.

The LGAC provides special recognition to Donors at different donation levels: Sustaining Members ($35 to $99), Bloomsbury Circle ($100 to $499), Guilford Fellow ($500 to $999), Mecklenburgh Patron ($1,000 to $9,999) and Goodenough Benefactor ($10,000 and up). This excellent choir was founded in 1995 under the direction of founder and director Lars Kaario. It offers intriguing choral concerts to its listeners, sometimes collaborating with instrumentalists or the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra. It supports its own composer-in-residence. Its 4 CDs are highly acclaimed: Christmas Journey, Songs of Heaven and Earth, A Baroque Christmas with Ray Nurse and La Cetra, and Celtic Journey with Amy Stephen and Michael Viens. Laudate's singers are highly trained, most with music degrees. The choir is at home with an eclectic mix of repertoire, and interpret each style convincingly. Indeed, Michael McGlynn, foremost Celtic composer and artist of Riverdance and Anuna fame, says about Celtic Journey, "The combination of such excellent voices under a decisive guiding hand is very refreshing to hear on such a stylistically difficult release. This is easily one of the finest available records in the Celtic genre of vocal music that I have ever heard."

Our Need A 2007 study done by Kleinfeldt Consultants Ltd., noted that “the building is generally over-capacity in terms of storage space, class size and parking”. Structural Problems Supply & Return Air Ventilation system needs to be upgraded, plumbing system is aged, roof leaks constantly, heating system is deficient. Our Goal Our goal is to build a state of the art facility to service our students, faculty, parents and community: wheel-chair accessible,a state-of-the-art learning centre for learning-disabled children,larger gyms & classrooms,dedicated auditorium,multipurpose break-out rooms,onsite cafeteria,larger hallways, separation of Elementary/JH & HS,increased parking,eliminate deficiencies,increase enrolment. The Impact Creation of 200+ jobs in general construction and skilled trades such as plumbing,electrical,landscaping trades and building maintenance; additional positions for faculty/support staff, tech personnel and building maintenance.

LifeCycles provides the training, tools and passion to grow a healthy local food system. Through building backyard and community gardens with children, youth and low income families, harvesting food that would otherwise go to waste, and by providing opportunities to cultivate communities,we help educate and inspire action. Namo Buddha Foundation (Canada) was established at the request of the Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche in 2000. Namo Buddha Foundation is a Canadian registered charitable organization founded by Thrangu Rinpoche to provide food, clothing, medical care and education to the poor children of the Himalayan region, and support nunneries, monasteries, schools, free clinics, retreat centres and monastic colleges in Nepal, India and Tibet. Namo Buddha Foundation (Canada) receives funds, issues tax receipts for Canadians, and ensures that those funds benefit the projects and people they are intended for. The National Ballet School Foundation supports The National Ballet School of Canada by sustaining general operations, providing Graduate Awards, and through the Financial Assistance Program for talented students which provides dance training opportunities regardless of financial circumstance. Awards are presented annually and financial support is provided for other purposes as determined by the donor’s wishes.
