Habitat for Humanity is an independent, non-profit home builder dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing. Our philosophy is “A Hand Up, Not A Hand Out”, and our mission is to provide affordable housing for low-income families in the Niagara Region. Habitat for Humanity Niagara, incorporated in 1993, achieves this through the construction or renovation of simple, decent, affordable homes. We improve the quality of life in our community by working to eliminate poverty housing. We seek partnership opportunities to work side-by-side with financially vulnerable families. Habitat houses are sold to families, not given to them free of charge. In addition, families help to build their own home. By building homes at low cost and not charging interest on the mortgage, Habitat for Humanity is able to provide an opportunity, or a "hand up", to buy a home for families that would not otherwise qualify for a conventional mortgage.
We build simple, decent homes using donations of financial support, building materials and time that are all generated through the local community. After investing hundreds of hours to build their homes and those of their neighbours, our families assume no-interest, no down-payment mortgages that reflect the market value of the home. Monthly mortgage payments are continually reinvested into future home construction. Habitat for Humanity’s success rests in its fundamental belief that a community can create its own solutions for those in need by coming together to provide a hand up — not a handout. Habitat for Humanity provides the framework to build homes for families and hope for generations.
Habitat for Humanity Regina builds homes in parthership with low-income, working families. We provide capital, not charity, which is provided to families through long-term, interest-free mortgages. Habitat partner families contribute 500 hours of their time toward construction and other projects. Families earn long-term equity through our program and become tax-paying, contributing citizens of the community. Mortgage payments help finance construction of more Habitat homes through the revolving build fund. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore operates to pay 100% of the adminsitrative costs of Habitat Regina, allowing 100% of donated funds to be directed to building homes for deserving families.

World Dance for Humanity bridges cultures through movement and helps people in need by supporting small, sustainable, grassroots projects locally and in the developing world. All charitable donations and class fees go to underserved communities where a small amount of money can inspire hope and change lives, and where we can develop deep connections to the people we serve.

Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg builds homes for low-income working families to purchase through a no money down, interest free mortgage. Habitat families are selected through a rigorous process with the main criteria being the low-income guidelines set by Statistics Canada. Our administrative costs are covered primarily by our new and used building materials outlet, the ReStore, so 100% of ALL donations go directly to building homes. We have built over 200 homes in Winnipeg since 1987. Please visit and donate now on our website www.habitat.mb.ca.
The Vancouver Humane Society is an animal charity working locally, provincially and nationally and funded primarily by public donations. We do not operate an animal shelter; rather we work on the underlying problems of animal abuse by exposing animal cruelty to the public and informing individuals how their choices impact animals. Our primary areas of work are: animals in entertainment (zoos, rodeos, circuses, the film industry, sled dog operations); animals on factory farms (caged egg-laying hens, "broiler" or "meat" chickens, and other intensive confinement systems via our 'Eat Less Meat' project); and companion animals, including spay/neuter and emergency veterinary medical assistance for pet guardians on limited income. VHS is one of the few animal organizations that encourages vegetarianism, as not eating animals is the most effective way to stop animal suffering. We empower communities to rise out of poverty through education, food security projects and economic opportunities. We start by investing in women.
We provide safe, affordable, decent home ownership to deserving families in Barrie and South Simcoe. Our Restore recycles usable building products and materials diverting more than 40 tons of waste each year. Low-income families complete 500 hours of sweat equity toward their home and pay a no interest mortgage. They become tax-payers and engaged community citizens. Our ReStores and building projects engage more than 400 volunteers every year including students, Ontario Works participants, volunteers through the justice system and other community minded individuals. Thanks to Restore revenues, 100% of donations go directly to helping families in need get a hand up not a hand out.
