The Foundation of St. Joseph Seminary and Newman Theological College

The Foundation of SJS & NTC has a mission for today: to raise funds, coordinate fundraising activities, and manage investments to meet the operating expenses of the Seminary and College. Newman Theological College and St. Joseph Seminary provide a foundation of theological understanding for both religious and lay leaders. Whatever their calling--ordained priests or lay ministers in churches; chaplains in hospitals, the military or prisons; teachers in the Catholic school system; or one of many ministries in the secular world--our graduates depend upon your contribution toward their development and work.

FERTILE GROUND: EAST/WEST SUSTAINABILITY NETWORK

For close to a decade, Fertile Ground has offered encouragement to small tea growers, farming families, NGO's, agricultural extension staff, teachers and students in rural Assam. Through partnerships with like-minded organizations in towns and in remote villages, we have helped to initiative organic demonstration gardens where people learn to produce compost, vermicompost and other natural inputs made from locally-available materials. We respect traditional knowledge and practices, and explore ways to combine that local wisdom with techniques that are sustainable and environmentally-sound.

Maison de la Gare (Senegal)

Donations received on CanadaHelps will be committed to the Foundation's collaboration with "Maison de la Gare" of Saint Louis, Senegal. Tens of thousands of "talibé" children beg on the streets of Senegal's cities for 6 to 10 hours each day for their food and for money to give to the "teacher" who controls them. They live under unconscionable conditions, without access to running water, rudimentary hygiene or nurture, often without shelter and subject to severe abuse. Maison de la Gare works within this situation to improve the taibés' living conditions and to give them hope of becoming productive participants in Senegalese society.

SEMBEQ (The Evangelical Baptist Seminary of Quebec)

SEMBEQ is an evangelical Baptist seminary based out of Montreal, Quebec. SEMBEQ was founded in 1973 in response to a lack of formal training to train up leaders. It is not a residential seminary, but one that works directly in and through local French Baptist churches, helping them train up pastors, evangelists, church planters, teachers and leaders from within their congregation. Churches were being planted, but the leaders and elders in the church had no formal seminary training and for them to leave their churches for four years would be out of the question. SEMBEQ’s main goal from the beginning was church based training—to train churches to train their leaders.
